Mike grew up in the mountains of Colorado; after grad school he wanted to go where the nights were longer, the crevasses deeper, and the claws sharper. So, he moved to Alaska. When he isn't exploring the outdoors, he works as a scientist protecting the rivers and lakes of AK.
