Report from January 5, 2025
On day #3 of our BC hut trip we had a plan.
Ski โThe Bubblesโ in the sunshine, then drop into โThe Dark Side.โ
โThe Bubblesโ are fun pillows we can see from the hut that receive photons directly from our closest star.

โThe Dark Sideโ is a long, steep, scary, hard-to-find chute feels big mountain AF.
We started on โThe Bubblesโ to not waste the rare January BC sunshine.
I knew my line and put the throttle down.
Well, I thought I knew my line.
- Pillow #1 = fun
- Pillow #2 = smooth
- Pillow #3 = getting a bit uncomfortable
- Pillow #4 = went off way to fast and forgot how flat the landing is
I ate sh#$ on the 4th landing and came up laughing.
Doh!
The boys all crushed their lines especially Kyle.
Back up to the ridge, over the peak, and down the sawtooth ridge.
It felt hard to believe we were gonna drop into one of these chute.
The are all guarded by cornices, start with blind rollovers, and are intimidating as hell.
We knew the one we were aimed for went because weโd gotten photos the day before.
It was still hard to tell if we were in the right placeโฆ
Kyle went first and radioed back that it was all good.
I went last.
I dodged my buddiesโ tracks and found incredible, deep, stable snow.
Near the bottom I found an alternate exit and had it all to myself.
I felt high at the bottom.
Big mountain terrain that weโd never really seen.
Ludicrous.
We were buzzing the entire walk home.
This was one of the best ski trips of my lifeโฆ
Thanks, BC!
