Onshore flow and above normal sea surface temperatures around Alaska continue to favor above-normal temperatures for western Mainland Alaska and the Aleutians, while a predicted increase in low-level winds originating from Canada enhance the likelihood of below-normal temperatures for eastern Alaska and the Panhandle. California can expect to experienceย warmer temperatures during the earlier part of the week-2 period, favoring near normal temperatures on average for coastal California. Below normal temperatures are forecast for much of the western half of the CONUS.
For the precipitation probability forecast for week-2, expectย increasing chances of near to above-normal precipitation for the West Coast. Elsewhere, most of the CONUS is favored to have above-normal precipitation.
