Big Sky Resort, MT is Building a Brand New, 6-Person Chairlift – The Fastest in North America

Big Sky Resort, MT will be replacing its existing Swift Current High-Speed Quad with a brand new, 6-passenger high speed chairlift for the 2020-21 ski season. It will be called the Swift Current 6 chair and will be the fastest 6-passenger chairlift in North America.

The new chair expected for next season will have heated seats, leg rests, and a drop-down weather proof bubble that blocks wind and snow on frigid days. The Swift Current 6 will live up to its name as it it will cover 1,200 feet per minute traveling at a speed of 13.6 mph.

Big Sky’s new chairlift will have a ride time of approximately 9 minutes, making it the fastest 6-person chair in North America. Construction of the new Swift Current 6 seater will commence this spring after Big Sky Resort finishes winter operations, with plans to repurpose and sell the former quad that the speedy new lift will be replacing.
