The National Brotherhood of Snowsports (NBS) is pleased to announce the addition of two new member clubs to its organization. Both the Black Millennial Ski Club (BMSC) based in Austin, TX, and OurSundays Ski and Board Club in Salt Lake City, UT, have officially joined the NBS as part of the Rocky Mountain Region further expanding the organization’s mission of promoting diversity in winter sports.
The Black Millennial Ski Club (BMSC), based in Austin, TX, was founded for black skiers and snowboarders to connect and experience the thrill of winter sports together. With a focus on creating a safe and inclusive space, BMSC provides networking opportunities, group ski trips, and educational programs for its members. By joining the NBS, the club aims to amplify its impact and collaborate with like-minded organizations across the country.
OurSundays has been a prominent presence in the Salt Lake City, UT community since 2021. In their mission of bringing people together (for karaoke, cookouts, ski trips, and sometimes early morning tailgates!), OurSundays has expanded to include snow sports with the OurSundays Ski and Board Club. As a member of the NBS, OurSundays Ski and Board Club, the first chapter in Utah in over two decades, will continue the organization’s efforts in promoting diversity and representation in winter sports.
The National Brotherhood of Snowsports is the largest organization dedicated to promoting skiing and snowboarding among people of color. Established in 1973, the NBS has been instrumental in fostering a sense of community and providing opportunities for athletes of diverse backgrounds to excel in winter sports. Through its annual summit, regional events, and scholarship programs, the NBS strives to increase the participation and representation of minority individuals in skiing and snowboarding.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Black Millennial Ski Club and OurSundays Ski and Board Club to the National Brotherhood of Snowsports. Both of these clubs share our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in winter sports, and we look forward to working together to further our mission.”
– Henri Rivers, NBS president
With the addition of these two clubs, the NBS continues to strengthen its network of like-minded organizations across the United States and expand the reach of its advocacy for diversity in winter sports. The collaboration between the Black Millennial Ski Club, OurSundays Ski and Board Club, and the NBS will undoubtedly inspire aspiring black skiers and snowboarders across the country.
โThe two clubs that have recently joined NBS are a testament to our commitment to growing inclusivity, diversity, and unity within the world of snowsports. Together, we can continue shattering barriers and create lasting bonds on the slopes. Letโs carve out a brighter, more inclusive future for snowsports, one turn at a time. These clubs are part of our next generation, the necessary lifeline to continue growing the NBS for another 50 years.โ
– Andrea Yowman, Rocky Mountain Region vice president, National Brotherhood of Snowsports
