Scottish news outlet, the Daily Record, has reported that the body of a Scottish skier Daniel Maddox was found after being struck by an avalanche behind Glencoe Ski Centre in the Scottish Highlands.

Maddox was caught in an avalanche Saturday March 30th while skiing off piste.

Searchers found Maddox’ body beneath 13 feet of snow on Sunday beneath avalanche debris which traveled nearly 1000 feet and was up to 40 feet deep in some areas.

The avalanche follows a weekend of heavy snow and wild likely leading to dangerous offpiste   travel conditions.

This is one of 14 deaths which have occurred in the Scottish mountains this year, including one incident of four climbers, three who died, which were hit by an avalanche.

SnowBrains sends our condolences to the friends and family of Daniel Maddox.
