Skier Dies after Colliding with Tree at Breckenridge, CO

A skier died at Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado after colliding with a tree on Thursday morning, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said, reports Fox Denver.

According to the report, deputies responded to the incident at Peak 8 at 9:50 am. The skier was taken to the Peak 8 first aid room where he was later pronounced dead. It’s not known if the skier was wearing a helmet.

The Summit County Coroner’s Office is leading the investigation into the death. The name and age of the skier were not released pending notification of next of kin.

This is the first death at Breck this season but the 10th since 2015-16. Three of those deaths have happened on or near Peak 8.

There have been four deaths at Colorado resorts this season.
