Buildings Destroyed in Blaze at Whistler Blackcomb Yesterday

A fire started late Monday night near Base 2, above the upper part of Whistler Village in some maintenance and office buildings owned by Whistler Blackcomb. Three vehicles were destroyed and while fire crews managed to prevent the blaze from spreading, the buildings were lost. No one was injured.

No word yet on how the loss of these buildings, which included building maintenance, the WB sign shop and some offices for the operations department and reservations, will affect the day to day operations of Whistler Blackcomb.

Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America and is undergoing an expansion this year with two new lifts in the Harmony Zone on Whistler and the Crystal Zone on Blackcomb. According to company officials, it’s business as usual for crews working to complete both lift projects.

  1. shops such as that are required to keep the flammables in a special heavy steel, fireproof cabinet. that is the commercial and professional standard for a sign shop or similar. why the amateur methods?
