Friday Fun: Telemark Waterskiing Snow humans have a hard time during summer. While everyone else is celebrating what is supposed to be the best time of year, we can be sullen and unmotivated. Especially in July when you realize just how far away ski season really is. There are brief moments of respite. Patch skiing, surfing, mountain biking, and telemark waterskiing. We suppose that sometimes, you just need to put your boots on, no mater the situation. This ends up looking pretty fun and not as dangerous and silly as it sounds at first. At least he’s skiing again. […] Surf SnowBrains | August 1, 2014 1 Comment
Peru Surf & Culture Report: Playa Makaja & Independence Day As I arrived in Peru an instant happiness came throughout my entire body when I felt the cold air on my face. Escaping the 100 degree heat of Utah summer to 65 degree ocean front environment was amazing. My first stop was the capital city of Lima and would be my jumping off point for the entire country. Armed only with a Lonely Planet and a sense of adventure my brother and I were able to find a great hostel in the heart of the Mira Flores area of the city called Hitch Hikers Hostel and […] Surf Ryan Mulcahy | August 1, 2014 0 Comments

Bali, Indonesia Surf & Culture Report: Enormous Waves, Dengue Fever, Kecak Dance The traditional healer that gave me the cupping therapy the other week helped for a bit, but not long. I ended up going back to Bali from Java and going to the doctor after 5 nights of fever. Yep, I got Dengue Fever. You get Dengue Fever from mosquitos and I don’t recommend it. In Bali, the waves were enormous. I mean huge. I went to Uluwatu and it was cranking. I actually thought I was going to paddle out until I walked down to the […] Surf Miles Clark | July 15, 2014 1 Comment
Java, Indonesia Surf & Culture Report: Fever, Barrels, & A Traditional Healer This was a crazy week for me in West Java. We had some perfect waves. Some perfect barrels. We had some days that were too big and the wave wasn’t working at all. And I got a vicious tropical fever. After 3 nights of it I finally went to both a western medicine doctor and had a traditional healer perform cupping on my back. The waves have been solid over all. Most everyday has been head […] Surf Miles Clark | June 25, 2014 6 Comments
Java, Indonesia Surf & Culture Report: Dirt, Grunge, & Barrels Java. It’s pronounced Jawa, locally. Which is great because it makes it sound like a planet in Star Wars. Which is pretty much is. Java is dirty. It’s grungy, it’s funky, it’s polluted, and amazing. Java is the most densely populated island on Earth. This island has the same population as Russia. There’s 145 million people on this Island. This is the 3rd most densely populated place on Earth. You’re never lonely here. Java is long island that is nothing but a string […] Surf Miles Clark | June 19, 2014 4 Comments
Tahoe Surf Session – June 10th | Photo Tour: I had been eyeing Thursday in the forecast all week. Not for surfing, but for sailing. However, due to my inability to find someone crazy enough to want to sail a Hobie Tiger in 40-60mph gusts, I instead got in touch with Scott Gaffney to see if he was thinking of heading out for a surf session. Game time. I don’t surf at all, but think it’s one of the coolest […] Surf Matt Bansak | June 13, 2014 1 Comment
