Close Encounter with Great White Shark in Southern California Yesterday

Mike Durand was out on his paddleboard at El Porto surf break in Manhattan Beach, California yesterday when an 8-foot juvenile great white shark swam up to him and directly under his board.

This isn’t too uncommon a sighting in SoCal as great whites are thought to have their babies in Southern California each year.

Chuck Patterson has a very famous shark video where he is paddling around at San Onofre in San Clemente, California when he gets passed multiple times by a great white shark.  His encounters seem even a touch scarier.

Would this freak you out?  It would freak us out.
