As the beginning of March unfolds, many Colorado ski resorts have a good idea of when they are going to shut down for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season. However, these are mainly tentative plans for closing this season. Below are the Colorado resorts that have announced their closing dates for the year.
Aspen Snowmass Resort has different closing dates for each of the four resorts. These dates are set and likely to stay in place.
- Aspen Mountain: April 21
- Aspen Highlands: April 7
- Buttermilk Mountain: March 31
- Snowmass: April 14
Hesperus Ski Area announced they were closed for the season back in late December this past year. This was due to a mechanical failure on one of their main lifts, the Bighorn Chairlift. The resort ultimately decided that shutting down was the best option to get everything fixed for next year.
Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs is the only resort closing in March other than Buttermilk Mountain, which is set for March 24, but is subject to change if weather permits.
Resorts set to close in April:
- Crested Butte Mountain Resort: April 7
- Eldora Mountain: April 14
- Loveland Valley at Loveland Ski Area: April 7
- Silverton Mountain: April 14
- Steamboat Resort: April 21
- Sunlight Mountain Resort: April 7
- Telluride Ski Resort: April 7
The remaining Colorado ski resorts have either not announced a specific date for closing yet or are deciding on a tentative date soon. This is true for Arapahoe Basin, which does not have an official closing date set. For some context, resorts like Breckenridge and Winter Park closed in late May last season. Therefore, it would not be a surprise if some resorts decide to wait and pick a date later on depending on weather conditions this month and into early April.
