It’s been an unbelievable winter in Colorado, with some record-breaking snowfall leading to resorts staying open well into June, and also producing historic avalanche conditions.

Many areas saw multiple feet of snow in May, a time when most people are turning their attention to mountain biking or golf. And it is this historic winter, combined with late-season snowfall, that has contributed to an epic snowpack.

Statewide, Colorado snowpack is at 539% of normal. And in the south-west, the snowpack is an unbelievable 1093%. Almost ELEVEN times what it is normally at the beginning of June.

And while that is great news for rivers, reservoirs, rafting, farming, and wildfires, there is some concern about flooding as all that snow melts.
