It was opening weekend at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, CA and it sure didn’t disappoint. Conditions were great and there was plenty of fresh snow on the ground from the last storm.

Squaw:

Funitel to Goal Coast and Emigrant, plus beginner area around High Camp. You could traverse over to Siberia Bowl and even the Palisades opened up (Main & National). Some awesome natural snow was wherever there were trees and right under Emigrant chair.

Alpine:

Kangaroo was the only lift spinning. Very good coverage of a mix of natural and man made snow and well groomed. As of Sunday, it looked like you can ski top to bottom (Roundhouse and maybe Summit) and a lot of snow harvesting and moving was going on.

  1. It’s Squaw Valley AND Alpine Meadows. AND. Still two separate places. Doesn’t need to sound like a bunch of words thrown together.
