Report from March 6, 2025

As the season slowly winds to a close, skiers and snowboarders around the country rush to get their turns in as the snow starts to slush. In central Colorado, early spring conditions can be some of the best, with a combination of fresh snow and sunlight making the mountain experience memorable. At Copper Mountain, located roughly an hour west of Denver, conditions have been exceptional following multiple days of snowfall sprinkled across Summit County.

Copper Mountain is always a great place to ski and snowboard, no matter the conditions. The mountain, which opened in 1972, is widely known for its wide variety of terrain and incredible yet challenging terrain parks, making it a great destination for all types of skiers and snowboarders. The community is vibrant yet relaxed, and it is an enjoyable ski area for all types of skiers and snowboarders of all ages. Copper Mountain has 2,538 acres of skiable terrain, making it one of the largest in Colorado.

To date, Copper Mountain has received 278 inches of snow throughout the season, with 22 inches received so far in March. Recent snowfall, along with temperatures that have typically fluctuated from the mid-20s to low-40s, have kept the snow conditions soft and fresh.

The day started off with sunny, warm weather that did not require more than a lightweight jacket. Moving into the afternoon, flurries of snow started to dust over the mountain, returning the wintery vibe to a mountain that is not ready for the season to be over quite yet.

Groomed runs, like those easily accessible from the American Flyer and American Eagle lifts, featured soft corduroy that was felt smooth under foot. Few icy patches made for a relaxing feel, and runs that had some untouched powder were popular and were quickly chewed out by skiers and snowboarders hunting for some fresh.

A day at Copper Mountain is never complete without checking out the Woodward Terrain Parks, which were beautifully built, per usual. Central Park featured its signature extra-large jump line along with difficult rails and tubes. Peace Park really displayed the park crewโ€™s creativity, with table tops, hips, step-up jumps, and other features that gave the park a creative and unique flow. The parks were well-groomed, and the jumps and rail lips were in great condition throughout the day.

From riding terrain parks to groomers to finding fresh powder, Copper Mountain has something for every type of skier or snowboarder. As the season continues to wind down and skiers and snowboarders are getting ready to put their gear away, a day at Copper Mountain is a great place to find great late-season conditions.
