Report from February 26 & 27, 2025
Thursday and Friday at Courmayeur Ski Resort, Italy, were powder days.
Thursday we ventured into a new sidecountry zone I hadnโt been to before.
Twice!

Friday we returned to that zone and went back to our old side-country zones only to find them getting blasted by 50mph winds.
Thursday was surprisingly deep in the new zone.
The light was tough in the morning but improved on our second lap in the afternoon.
In between those two laps, we went back to our normal zone at the foot of Mont Blanc and the wind was howling like a wolf.
We went for a bootpack and a new adventure into a region we hadnโt visited before.
It worked out well, the skiing was pretty good considering the wind, and we even found a quick and easy creek crossing right at the base of the run.
On Friday, we checked back into both zones.
The windy zone was pretty beat up but we found 35 good turns after some heinous wind board and before some scary steep icy exit terrain.
Our new zone had gotten the wind as well, but we got up high.
I hit a fun cliff then battled the winded snow down low and we called it a day and headed over to Skyway for a tandem speed flightโฆ
Thereโs still some powder out there in some protected north-facing terrain and the south faces might be turning to corn nowish.
Oh, and we hit our favorite on mountain refugio both days and the focaccia sandwiches are $$$.
Iโve got one more week here to adventure and learn more.
Grazie, Italia!
