This past Sunday, Courmayeur ski resort in Italyโs Aosta Valley officially renamed one of its iconic ski runs to honor Italyโs most decorated female alpine skier. Slope 14 will now bear the name of Federica Brignone, a tribute to her exceptional achievements and lifelong connection to the Aosta Valley.
The dedication came at the end of a record-setting season for Brignone, who just clinched her second overall Giant Slalom (GS) title at the 2025 Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho. The 34-year-old Italian star capped her season with a second-place finish in the GS finale, enough to overcome a 20-point deficit in the standings and secure the coveted crystal globe.

Brignoneโs remarkable year also included winning the downhill season titleโbringing her career tally of discipline globes to seven. โThis slope has always been a part of my journey,โ Brignone said during the ceremony in Courmayeur. Surrounded by friends, family, and fans, she cut the ribbon at the base of the newly christened trail. The event marked not just a celebration of her latest titles, but her influence on Italian skiing and the Aosta Valley itself, where she first learned to ski.
With this latest recognition, Brignoneโs name is now iterally carved into the mountains that shaped her career. As she eyes the 2026 Olympics, her legacy continues to build momentum. The renaming of the slope in one of Italyโs premier ski destinations gives a nod to her career as an icon and status as a local hero, inspiring generations of young skiers as she continues her legacy in ski racing and prepares for the Olympics to come to her home country next year.
