El Colorado, Chile Conditions Report:
words & photos by Casey Earle on August 12th, 2015
Our day in El Colorado last thursday was a windless bright sunny day with cumulus clouds billowing below. 5-10 cm had fallen at the end of Wednesday, not really covering the prior days tracks, but providing an icing to the cake, and making the whole mountain skiable.
From the top of Cono Este (which could be the best biggest bang for your buck lift if it weren’t an ancient t-bar), the scene was thus, from Las Aguilas chair in La Parva through the Valle Olimpico to Andes Express and Tres Puntas in Valle Nevado:
For completely untracked stuff, one had to venture to odd places, such as north faces like this one between Colorado Chico and Las Yaretas:
Faces were happy all around!
โEven Chuck Norris was there!
The series of storms ended the next day with a sunny flurry:
What a day! Best snow in years!!
