Report from 21st February 2020
Spring had sprung early at Boulder’s closest resort today, as temperatures in the 40s and glorious sunshine baked this fantastic and fun little resort.
Taking advantage of our Ikon Pass (don’t @ me…), we arrived mid-morning to find the parking lots pretty full. As we started walking an unknown distance towards the resort, a cute little electric shuttle crept up behind us and gestured us aboard. We obliged and welcomed the ride to the base area.
Riding straight up Alpenglow, we headed skiers left towards Corona. We lapped this chair many times, exploring the groomed blacks, the bumps runs and ventured into the Salto Glades. The groomers were grippy and quick, bumps soft and fun, and glades steep and tight in places. The whole area was super fun, and we could’ve stayed there longer, but decided to explore more of the mountain.
We then did a few laps off the Indian Peaks lift, a favorite being the aptly named Liftline that ran top to bottom right under the lift. Super fun bumped-out run, and who doesn’t like skiing under a chair with an audience?!
As the day progressed and our sunburned faces got redder, we made our way back towards Alpenglow and the terrain park area skiers right of the chair.ย More fun groomers just made for carving huge GS turnsย down to the base area.
Eldora is (currently still) a hidden gem, a super fun little resort with some awesome terrain. Today was like a perfect spring day and the conditions were delightful, I can only imagine how it skis on a big powder day. I might just have to find out next time it snows…
