The foot and more of fresh snow that fell on Eldora Mountain Resort, CO Monday night proved to be ‘too much’ as the resort had to briefly shut down their parking lots on Tuesday morning because they were full.
โThis does happen โ this happened a couple of times last season on peak days โ especially on days like this when it coincides with a holiday and these extreme snow events,โ Eldora spokesman Kyle Ogilvie said. โThe parking lot closure is unfortunate but necessary to keep people safe and keep the parking lots at a manageable capacity.โ
Parking areas at the resort were closed for about 45 minutes forcing the resort to turn away skiers and boarders and asking them to head back to Nederland. The lots reopened about 10:15 am as first-tracks seekers left for the day.
Eldora reported 11 inches of new snowfall first thing, and another 2 to 4 inches had fallen by mid-morning.
