In a devastating incident at Eldora Mountain Resort, Colorado, a 52-year-old male employee lost his life while assisting with trail maintenance on the morning of May 16. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a medical emergency shortly after 10:00 a.m., with CPR in progress on the male patient.
According to the initial report, the staff member was struck by a falling tree, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Ski patrol immediately initiated medical care, and a Flight for Life Colorado helicopter was dispatched to the scene. Tragically, despite the efforts of emergency responders, the individual succumbed to his injuries on-site.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, as well as the identification of the victim. However, authorities have stated that the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
The incident prompted a collaborative response from multiple agencies, including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Coroner’s Office, Nederland Fire Protection District, American Medical Response (AMR), and Boulder County Co-Responders.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has assigned case report number 24-02368 to this tragic occurrence.
