Falls Creek, Australia, is the last Victorian ski resort to still operate after a tough winter season, which saw many other ski resorts close recently. The Vail Resorts-owned resort has now announced that it, too, will wrap up the season soon due to limited snow conditions. Falls Creek announced on its social media channels that it will wrap up lift operations on Friday, September 13.
What a winter weโve had at Falls Creek! From perfect snowmaking conditions throughout early season, to an 80cm snowfall week, powder days and so much great skiing and boarding, winter 2024 has been memorable.
Mother Nature has had her own plans this season, which has resulted in a decline in snow conditions, meaning our lift operations will finish on Friday 13 September.
As always, a big thank to you to our guests, staff and local community for being part of the winter magic at Falls Creek. Whiles itโs been shorter than we expected, we’ve made the most of the good times!
Enjoy the remaining days of the season with spring laps and some bluebird days, otherwise see you in 2025!
Australian ski resorts have been experiencing one of the toughest ski seasons in living memory. Snowfall has stayed well below the average, and the 2024 winter season was even shorter than the 2023 winter season. Mount Buller, Mount Baw Baw, and Mount Hotham have ceased operations in Victoria. Falls Creek is still operating, offering skiing and boarding for another four days. The groomers have done some great work, and Wombats, Drovers, Mousetrap, and Main Street are open for skiing and boarding. Four out of the resortโs 15 ski lifts are still operating and the Drovers Dream Park is also still open.
In New South Wales, Selwyn had to close at the end of August. Thredbo and Charlotte Pass have announced that they will be closing this weekend, leaving only Perisher as the only ski resort in Australia to still be operating.
