In addition to today’s announced sale of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain in Vermont, Stuart Winchester at the Storm Skiing Journal and Podcast has also exclusively revealed that POWDR is looking to sell Mount Bachelor, OR, Eldora, CO, and SilverStar, BC.
Officials at POWDR told Winchester that “other multi-mountain ski companies were welcome to bid on the three resorts” and expect the sales to be completed “over the coming weeks.”
POWDR owns and operates 10 ski areas across North America and intends to continue operating the other six operations in its portfolio. Sales are “driven by a desire to both focus and diversify the business.”
Until today, the resorts owned and operated by POWDR were:
- Boreal Ski Area, California
- Copper Mountain Resort, Colorado
- Eldora Mountain Resort, Colorado
- Gorgoza Tubing Park, Utah
- Killington, Vermont
- Mt. Bachelor, Oregon
- Pico Mountain, Vermont
- SilverStar Resort, Canada
- Soda Springs Ski Area, California
- Woodward Park City, Utah
Only time will tell who will purchase the other three resorts. Despite controversially losing Park City Mountain Resort, UT, to Vail Resorts in 2014, officials told Winchester “there is no lasting animosity.” Will the resorts end in the hands of local investors, as Killington did, or will Vail and Alterra snap them up to add to their ever-growing portfolios?
