Glacier National Park, MT spokeswoman Lauren Alley told MTN News that they have seen an increase of 40% in emergency call volume as compared to last year at this time.
She says the jump could be due to a number of things including the weather, the experience level of visitors and the time of day.
Alley added that one of the best ways to decrease incidents is to eliminate minor accidents.
โWearing proper shoes so you donโt twist your ankleโฆbringing an extra bottle of water so you donโt suffer from heat exhaustion five miles out into the backcountry,โ she commented. “Bringing an extra set of keys, so if you lock yourself out you have another set โ all of those things can really help make your trip much more enjoyable.”
Sheโs is reminding visitors to slow down on the road and pay attention to surroundings.
