Report from November 29th, 2018
I drove from Park City UT to Jackson WY to drop off my gear at my place in Jackson, then drove over to Grand Targhee WY and skied pow and threw my first backflip of the season then drove to Missoula MT all while doing a 24 hour fast and enjoying run-on sentences.
Such a strange drive today but my experience at Grand Targhee was top-notch.
I drove from Utah to Wyoming back into Utah then into Idaho back to Wyoming then back to Idaho then back to Wyoming then back into Idaho then Montana…
I arrived at Grand Targhee at noon today and the place looked like a mid-winter paradise with powder and snow-covered trees everywhere.
Grand Targhee has the deepest snowpack in North America right now at 50″.
I had no idea where to go today…
I’d only ever skied Targhee once and that was in 2017.
I rode up the Dreamcatcher chair and decided to cruise to the skiers left to grab a view of the Grand Teton.
The view was impressive and I saw Mary’s Nipple for the first time.
It was open and the snow looked deep, so I walked up there.
The run was ridiculously fun in deep, light, fresh powder snow.
I was only supposed to ski for an hour and get back on the road but I stayed for a bit over 2 hours and grabbed 3 runs on Mary’s Nipple.
On my last run I saw some locals throw backflips and 360s off a clean jump and decided to give it a whirl.
Ended up landing my first (very small) backflip of the year and it sent me beaming.
Grand Targhee is a ski paradise and there is simply no one there and it gets so much snow…
Pure magic.
Why all the driving, are you trying to accelerate climate change?
Just going skiing. This is my first car in 18 years… ๐
bob mcbob, did you buy a carbon credit to offset the hot air you’re spewing in this comment section…..
I guess winter is really here!
I haven’t used these words in months:
It was awesome to see some meat het hucked, and some pow get shredded .. yo.
So Jackson for the winter?
also, do I see a Le Suburu in that photo?
