Report from Wednesday, March 3rd & Thursday, March 4th, 2021

The Tetons and Grand Targhee bask under a bit of a winter-rarity this week: bright, hot, and unobstructed sunshine.

To better provide scale to this unique sun-ski window, there’s a greater likelihood of befriending an actual yeti than skiing so many uninterrupted bluebird days at the ‘Ghee. But this blue hole can’t last, and weather is forecasted to be soon inbound.

Currently, clear sky through the night means mornings are hard and fast.

By mid-day, air temps aren’t exactly cold (even at altitude),, but the snowpack base is doing a mighty job of remaining solid under a surface that is as granular and grippy as it gets for early March in the Teton Mountains.

These are the days of indulgent laps on surfaces that are as smoothly planer as possible. The Targhee terrain park and the hot lap (pun intended) are where it’s at. Jumping off-piste will be super fun, in an aerobics sort of way. And any untracked zones are going to be heavily sun-effected on the surface.

Of course, the heavy sun makes mask-wearing extra fun which is why Grand Targhee offers special thanks to everyone for maintaining safe practices during the current tanning weather.ย

So have fun soaking in the rays (and The Vibe) ’cause this sunny stretch isn’t meant to stay.
