Up to 90mph gusts on the ridges today already and the the wind is forecast to increase.

The wind and rain has shut down 3 Tahoe ski resorts:
- Squaw Valley
- Homewood (closed due to rain, not wind)
- Mt. Rose
Tahoe ski resorts that are open have limited operations generally only running lower mountain lifts.
Alpine Meadows has Roundhouse open, so we’re going to head over there and give it a whirl.
The boys will most certainly be out there surfing the lake today.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT
THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 25 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS 65 TO 70 MPH. GUSTS
OVER 80 MPH LIKELY IN WIND PRONE AREAS AROUND RENO...CARSON
CITY AND MINDEN. SIERRA RIDGE GUSTS UP TO 130 MPH.
* LAKE TAHOE: DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING BOATING CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED WITH WAVE HEIGHTS 3 TO 7 FEET.
* IMPACTS: WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO DAMAGE
TREES...POWER LINES AND ROOFS. STRONG CROSS WINDS WILL CREATE
HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WITH ROAD CLOSURES POSSIBLE.
Despite not having the upper mountain open due to snow conditions, Homewood Mountain Resort is open on the lower mountain today.
