The Beavers Lodge, which opened in 1940 alongside the Winter Park Resort, is considered a historic fixture in the town. It is renowned for its unique architecture and is believed to be one of the first guest lodges in Winter Park. The proposed Roam Beavers Lodge would offer approximately 12,900 square feet of amenity space, including indoor facilities like a gym, game room, and conference room and outdoor features like a pool and yoga lawn. In more recent years, it served as employee housing for Winter Park Resort.
The Roam development, initiated by Bob and Suzanne Fanch, owners of nearby Devilโs Thumb Ranch, includes 218 residential units and 23,000 square feet of commercial space in its first phase. The proposed demolition has sparked a call from the Grand County Historical Association to preserve the Beavers Lodge, emphasizing its historical and architectural significance. The association encourages community members to support preserving this piece of Colorado’s history.
