Mikey Lillis had big shoes to fill. His oldest brother Jon is the current world champion in ski aerials and his older brother Chris is the International Ski Federation Rookie of the Year from last season.
Well on his way to achieving the same accolades as his older brothers, Mikey sadly passed away in his sleep on Saturday, as reported by NBC Sports. He was only 17 years old.
Over the last two seasons, Mikey made the podium three times on the Nor Am Cup Tour.
“I have no words,” Jari Novak, Mikey’s coach, said. “Michael was a great kid and a great athlete with a great life and future ahead of him. It was taken from him too suddenly. We will all miss him, and he will be remembered forever.”
Mikey was following his dreams, we should all learn from his example. Don’t waste time…act now!!
