HUGE Stevens Pass, WA Avalanche From the Helicopter’s Perspective

Stevens Pass just got 10 feet of snow in 10 days. ย The sent patrollers out in a heli to trigger some avalanches to make sure things were safe for skiers and riders. ย They triggered an enormous avalanche last week that tore down trees and made for a helluva show.

This video gives us a little background on the avalanche and how it was triggered and shows us how it all looks from the helicopter’s perspective.

With over 10 feet of snow in 10 days, conditions were ripe to do some helicopter avalanche control work above the backside of Stevens Pass on February 26, 2014.
