Hunter Mountain, owned by Peak Resorts, is well on its way to completing its $9 million Hunter North Expansion project for the start of the 2018-2019 ski season.ย With construction starting in April 2018, the resort has made quick work in blazing new trails. The project increases the mountain’s terrain by 80 skiable acres, adds 5 new trails, and 4 new gladed skiing areas. Which in total increases the ski area by one-third in total acreage. A fully automated snowmaking system and a high-speed six-person chairlift will service the area. Along with on-mountain improvements, the expansion will add 250 new parking spots and a new entrance off Route 23a.
The new terrain is a “game changer” that will primarily offer intermediate terrain.ย ย “We’re renowned for our beginner and expert terrain, but making the jump between the two is a challenge. We needed to fill that gap and make customers more comfortable skiing” said Daniel Kenney, PR, and Communications Manager for Hunter Mountain. Just a short two and half hour drive from the Big Apple, New Yorkers of all ski abilities will soon be shredding the new slopes!
