Jackson Hole Surpasses 100 inches of snow as the Tram opens for the season!! Jackson got off to an incredible start this year with 114ย inchesย that have fallen so far creating a 54 inch base. All major lifts are operating daily and the mountain is skiing great with mid season coverage!
The Tram and Sublette opened this past Friday giving skiers access to the entire mountain for the first time this season! Lotโs of untouched pow was enjoyed! The majority of runs are open with a few minor exceptions so watch for those closed signs!
The Upper Mountain (above South Pass Traverse) has been skiing fantastic with powder, packed powder, chalky conditions. The north facing aspects are riding the best. Lower Mountain was skiing great early last week, but a warm spell is making it pretty firm in the morning with a little melt freeze action. Positive note on the warm, the snow is getting pretty soft by afternoon. December Corn??
All in all the skiing is fantastic right now with unbelievable coverage for this time of the year! Walk on trams, 2 chair waits and of the vast majority mountain open! Jackson is the place to be!!!
The backcountry is riding very well with soft snow and mostly stable conditions (always check jhavalanche.org and be prepared before you go). A little crust on top, but not that noticeable with higher north facing still holding that lite density snow. Teton Pass has been pretty busy especially on the weekends so please be mindful of the parking situation there.
With temps reaching highs in the low to mid 30โs and the sun out it will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the week. A little snow by the weekend could go a long way with the excellent coverage we have right now so fingers crossed.
