Spring is the most interesting time of the year in the Tetons, from one day to the next you can go from skiing corn slush in a tee shirt to waist deep pow in freezing temps. So far this month it seems as spring is prevailing with more of the sun and less of the moisture, maybe mother nature is just leveling out the early season heavy snowfall we had. Never the less, there have been absolutely fantastic spring conditions in Jackson, and for the powder hungry people it’s out there if you’re willing to go searching!
Spring is in full force! The days are getting longer and the snow is changing. I find the resort to be hitting hard on the fun factor side of skiing come spring. The snow gets softer as the day goes on and the amount of people skiing grows. March has been awesome in Jackson, we have had a couple of little refresher storms, and the sunny days have been warm enough to loosen the base snow to provide excellent spring conditions! Groomers, bumps and the terrain parks have all been riding great as the weather warms the day! But it’s not all spring skiing out there. Yes there is POW and yes it is not easy to get to, or find. Temps up high have stayed cooler and on north facing aspects, if you’re willing to work for it, it’s out there!
The Dick’s Ditch Banked Slalom happened this past weekend. The race sends skiers and snowboarders alike down a fast course filled with chattering banked turns and big hits! Always a spectacle to watch, and a heart pounding adeline rush to compete in.
When the slush and tee shirts are out, after skiing under the Tram is the place to be. During the month of March you can usually find a band playing in front of the Tram dock with many snow enthusiasts enjoying they’re favorite beverages. Even if a band is not playing you can usually find a gathering of people here until the sun goes down.
The Jackson Hole Rendezvous March 19-22, 2015 brings four days of music to the Jackson area. ย Michael Franti & Spearhead headlining Saturday night withย Mix Master Mike of The Beastie Boys opening the show. This event has proven over the years to be one of the best weekends in Jackson with fireworks after the show!

jackson sucks. tell your friends.
Just back from 6 days last week and it was NOT “absolutely fantastic” It was scratchy and a bit icy on many trails including groomers late in the day. North facing slopes were better but with large hard moguls under a few inches of packed powder. It snowed 3 inches twice which helped a bit (Utah got 24 inches at same time).
Hobacks varied from really bad at beginning of week to somewhat better but not fun on later days.
Plenty of base -just need a fresh surface. Targhee had way better snow on Wednesday.
Most of our group were disappointed with Jackson.
Snowbird on Friday & Alta on Saturday were better than Jackson ( similar to Targhee)
