June Mountain, CA announced that it will open for the winter 18/19 season on Friday, December 21. Lift tickets for opening day at June are also now currently on sale for $79. As always, kids 12 and under ski June for free every day, all season long.
June Lake, CA, home to June Mountain, neighbor to Mammoth Mountain and now part of Alterra’s portfolio, is currently experiencing a bit of a resurgence. The ski area has always been off the radar, even though it offers the best lift-accessible backcountry skiing in the country,
‘four thousand feet of couloirs, bowls, techy alpine faces, and some of the finest north-facing old-growth powder skiing in the land.’
It is well known for its laid-back, family-friendly vibe, and some of the best views in the Eastern Sierra.

For new Ikon Pass holders making a trip to Mammoth, it’s a great side-trip. Just 20 miles up the road it’s totally removed from the scene at Mammoth. June Lakes Brewing also makes for a great Apres stop.
