UPDATE: Kira Moon Who was Allegedly Being Held Against Her Will on the Pacific Crest Trail, CA has Been Found

UPDATE: Friday 28th Sept – 0340 PST. A very brief, but important update on Facebook yesterday confirmed the news that friends and family had been waiting for – Kira Moon has been found, safe and well.

Family and friends are gravely concerned for the safety of Kira Moon (trail name ‘Steel’), a 62-year old women missing on the Pacific Crest Trail, and likely being held against her will. Kira was last seen, with Jim or Jay Cerilo (trail name ‘Medic’), on August 9th near in Mountain Center (Mountain Center is a census-designated place in the San Jacinto Mountains, within western central Riverside County, California)

Until February she had been living in San Francisco. She was single, and when her dog died in March she embarked on this journey along the PCT. At some point, she met this guy Jim/Jay/Medic. They fell in love and she decided to hike back with him… she got ill several times and became very frail on the trip. She’s 5’9″ and very thin.

She had been checking in every week, until August 11th. She was seen helping the fire dept for the fires down south and then was last seen in Anza and Paradise valley café and Mountain Center, California.

There has recently been verbal communication with her after a short back and forth of text messages, and although thrilled to know that she is alive, her loved ones are not at all satisfied that she is out of harm’s way. She was very cagey and was often being prompted during this call. It seemed almost as if she was reading off a script and gave us a lot of conflicting information.

Without real confirmation of this man’s true identity or their real location, we only have the extremely disconcerting facts that we do have to go on, so we would like momentum to please continue in the search for her. Now that Jim/Jay/Medic knows that we are actively looking for her and we distrust him completely, we very much fear that he may step up his game whatever that game might be. We are confident it is nefarious because of the sheer number of lies.

This man is allegedly abusing her and lying, telling people she is his wife of 5-years. (They met in April and she’s a lesbian, so color us surprised that she even dating a man!) This guy is a scam artist and “ borrowed large sums of money “ from a resident there.
