Kirkwood opened Chair 2 today allowing access to the great Thunder Saddle. Thunder Saddle is some of the most fun terrain at Kirkwood and it hasn’t been open all season.
Today, they’ll be opening Chair 10, likely the best chair at Kirkwood. By the weekend, they’ll have every chair and every zone open. It’s gonna be a great weekend at Kirkwood.

What a stellar day up here @KirkwoodMtn! Sunshine with minimal clouds and only a hint of a breeze off the ridges. BIG NEWS to drop on everyone tonight and I’m stoked to be the one to do it – Chair 10, Wagon Wheel, will be turning tomorrow morning with access to Eagle Bowl! We were able to turn Chair 2, Caples Crest today, and that will also be rocking tomorrow but their is no access to Thunder Saddle, yet… All the snow dances and patience paid off in spades, we’ve been opening new terrain all week and plan to be 100% open by this weekend. That’s right, backside is coming soon. There is still some work to do back there but we’re confident at this point we’ll be ready by Saturday. Huge props to the best in the biz – our Mountain Team – these guys and gals have been bustin’ it non-stop during and after we received 8 feet of fresh snow to get this mtn where it’s at. SIERRA WITH POTENTIAL FOR HIGH WINDS GUSTING OVER 60 MPH IN THE
VALLEYS AND OVER 100 MPH ON THE RIDGE TOPS. WE HAVE TRENDED THE
WINDS STRONGER FOR SATURDAY AS THIS LOOKS LIKE THE STRONGEST WIND
DAY FOR THE WEEK.
