As of 7:25am, they only had an inch or two at the base.ย Since the 7:25am update, they’ve gotten about 10″ of snow at their base.
That means it’s been snowing about 2.5 inches per hour the past 4 hours at the base!ย Just imagine how much snow they’ve been getting at the top of Kirkwood at 9,800-feet!
This storm in Tahoe and all of the Sierras is for real and the current Winter Storm Watch doesn’t expire until 10pm.ย NOAA is forecasting 1-2 Feet of snow in the high mountain of Tahoe today.
We just got a report from World Cup skier Travis Ganong of 12″ of snow at the base of Squaw.ย He went cross country skiing.
Solid 12+ inches here at the bottom of @squawalpine with much more up higher! Just went on a cross-country ski mission to explore the winter wonderland! Winter is here!” – Travis Ganong via facebook at 1pm today
That would be a solid foot of snow at the bottom of Alpine! I skied up on the roads up the mountain and found some pretty nice turns on a tele ski/cross country set up!
