Kirkwood opened for the 2013/14 winter season yesterday with one chair and two trails open. It looks like it was a good groomer day at the ‘wood.
Kirkwood is one of only 4Tahoe ski resorts open right now (Boreal, Northstar, Heavenly). Squaw is going to open on Wednesday bringing the number to 4. We’re all hoping for the possible storm that might come next week.
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV 249 PM PST MON NOV 25 2013 ANOTHER STORM IS PROJECTED TO BRING A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER EARLY NEXT WEEK, POSSIBLY BY SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING VERY COLD AIR AND, IF IT TAKES THE RIGHT TRACK, DECENT SNOW AMOUNTS FOR THE SIERRA. MODELS ARE IN RELATIVELY GOOD AGREEMENT TODAY THAT AN INITIAL UPPER LEVEL WAVE IN THE ARCTIC WILL SLIDE DOWN THE GULF OF ALASKA COAST AND BRING A LARGE SCALE TROUGH TO THE NORTHERN STATES NEXT WEEK. WESTERN NEVADA WILL BE ON THE SOUTHEASTERN EDGE OF THE TROUGH SO RELATIVELY SMALL CHANGES IN THE TRACK OF THE TROUGH WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS ON THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE IT WILL BRING.

Oh, my bad. Hm, never heard it opened. Vail has all 3 of their Tahoe ski resorts open that means. Impressive. Thanks.
