Report from March 7, 2025
On Friday of last week, we skied La Thuile ski resort in La Thuile, Italy.
La Thuile, Italy, is part of the Espace San Bernardo ski area, which connects to La Rosiรจre ski area in France.
The first thing we noticed was the party atmosphere and the building of bleachers and stages at the base area.
The World Cup is coming to La Thuile this week and the party has seemingly already begun.

After riding up the gondola we were slapped in the face with how enormous this ski area is.
Wowโฆ
Then we popped over to the La Roseire, France, side of the mountain and our minds poppedโฆ
- 37,500 skiable acres
- 94 miles of trails
- 4,728 vertical feet
- 39 ski lifts
The word vast doesnโt even begin to describe it.
On top of how big the ski area is, if youโre a backcountry skier, the place gets even bigger.
The sidecountry zones are epic, huge, full of chutes, and easily reachable.
Hell, there is straight-up Freeride World Tour terrain right off the sides of the runs that require no hiking โ just bravery.
We did our best to ski every chair and explore every zone and we came up way short.
I even told Vanessa in the ticket office at the end of the day that La Thuile is โtroppo grande,โ too big!
I quickly realized my mistake of saving this ski area for my last day.
It would take a week to properly explore this ski resort.
I cannot wait to come back and learn all these zones and dip my feet into the sidecountry areas.
We did our best to ski all over and we loved the idea of bouncing from one country to the next via ski lift.
Much of the resort is above treeline and feels like a moonscape at times.
High-speed six-packs, poma tows, quads, and even some open-to-the-public skier cross courses splash across the mountainside.
No lift lines at all.
There seem to just be too many options for lines to form.
We were in full adventure mode the whole day.
We rode the bus back to Courmayeur in awe.
I am so excited to come back and explore all these zones more next season.
Thanks, Italy & France!
