Lindsey Vonn won the women’s Super G in Austria today.ย ย Yesterday, Lindsey won her 36th world cup downhill race tying Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proellโs World Cup downhill victory record.
Lindsey Vonn is going off this year, again.ย She has now won 7 World Cup races this season and this was her record extending 73rd World Cup win.ย The only person to have every won more World Cup wins is Ingemar Stenmark, and that record appears very much within Lindsey’s reach.
“The bottom part of this course โฆ was the most important part of the course. I think I was smart with my tactics and I felt like I was going pretty fast. But, you never know until you get to the finish.
I had a lot of confidence after Lake Louise and then in Val dโIsere I felt like I lost my confidence a little bit after going out in the downhill. I went home, I had a good break and I feel energized again. I feel really good mentally and physically, and I think that showed in this weekendโs racing.
Itโs a perfect start to the New Year. Hopefully I can just continue on in this direction and hopefully just keep winning.” – Lindsey Vonn
Lindsey’s numbers this year are impressive:
- 7 World Cup wins this season
- 73 career World Cup wins
- Leading the Super G standings by 80 points
- Leading the Downhill standings by 50 points
- 2nd in overall World Cup standings by 38 points (Lara Gut in lead)
