Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT Scheduled to OPEN for 1st Time in 2+ Days Tomorrow at Noon

The highway into Little Cottonwood Cayon (SR 210) that gives access to Alta & Snowbird is scheuled to open tomorrow at noon.

210 has been closed all day today and yesterday due to high avalanche danger.

Alta & Snowbird plan to open tomorrow “as conditions permit”.

NOAA has issued an Avalanche Warning for the Salt Lake region that continues into Saturday

* AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL BECOME HIGH ON MANY SLOPES AT 
DIFFERENT ELEVATIONS AND ASPECTS. 

* REASON/IMPACTS...HEAVY DENSE SNOW AND WINDS UP TO 100 MPH HAVE CREATED 
WIDESPREAD AREAS OF UNSTABLE SNOW. BOTH HUMAN TRIGGERED AND NATURAL AVALANCHES 
ARE LIKELY. STAY OFF OF AND OUT FROM UNDER SLOPES STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES.

Many avalanches have come down across the highway in Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT today.

Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta and Snowbird have not opened the past two days.

The Town of Alta is currently Interlodged (meaning that no one is allowed to leave the buildings for any reason whatsoever).

Highway 210 closed through tonight. The Town of Alta is interlodged. We plan to open tomorrow as conditions permit. For road updates, please consult UDOT.

Alta Ski Area has seen 5″ snow in the past 12 hours, and 14″ in the last 24-hours.

  WASATCH RANGE, BEAR RIVER RANGE, AND WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAINS.

* AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL BECOME HIGH ON MANY
