Loon Mountain Ski Resort, a ski resort based in New Hampshire, is facing a major lawsuit regarding a tubing accident that took place on the mountain on February 11, 2023.

Zoia Tsoleridis visited the mountain with her family with the hopes of going tubing. When they arrived, they were told that Adult tickets were completely sold out, but a Loon employee gave them “Tot Tubes” (children’s tubes), which, according to the lawsuit, is a major safety hazard and directly against Loon Mountains policies.

According to the lawsuit, “Tot Tubes” do not have handbrakes, and the added weight of an adult can cause the tube to reach unsafe speeds. As Tsoleridies was getting closer to the bottom of the course, she was not able to slow her tube down, causing her to go full speed into the snow berm at the bottom, which ended up becoming more like a jump, as she flew over it full speed. “Ms. Tsoleridis suffered catastrophic injuries when she impacted the ground, including a Traumatic Brain Injury, an Aortic Aneurysm, two (2) broken arms, and a broken jaw. She had to be airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where she stayed in the ICU for an extended period.”

Ms. Tsoleridis has requested a trial by jury and is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.
