Loveland ski resort in Colorado, usually one of the first ski resorts open in the USA, started snowmaking for the first time this season last night.
Loveland generally needs about 4-14 days to put down enough snow to open a ski run, so we’ve still got a decent chunk of time to wait and the temperature forecast looks ok at best.ย Right now, the NOAA forecast for Loveland Pass is for temperatures in around 35ยบF every night for the next week.ย This is not quite cold enough to make snow, but hopefully Loveland gets a bit of real snow on Tuesday…
Fingers crossed!
As of right now, Killington, VT will be beating out all of Colorado opening this Sunday.
Sunday River, Maine will also beat out Colorado opening this Monday.
Makes me homesick for Chair 1 and Over the Rainbow!
