Report from June 1 & 2, 2022
It’s June.
It’s June and Mammoth is still skiing splendiferously!
I was blown away by how good it skied today and yesterday.
It didn’t hurt that we got about 4 or 5 hard freezes in a row.
Skiing in a T-shirt and shorts?
Not exactly this May and June.
It’s often been cool and breezy which kept the snow great.
Heck, we even got a few inches of snow on May 8.
There are a few rails left in a mini park near Chair 3 but the order of the day has been top to bottom groomers for me.
No one beats Mammoth at farming snow and keeping the mountain open by pushing around the snow they have on-site.
Fast, smooth, fun, and no stickiness.
Obviously, there aren’t many people left here, but we did get to ski with the legendary Surfer Steve today who is in Robb Gaffney’s “Squallywood” in the game of G.N.A.R.
I believe we picked up around 2,000 GNAR points just for skiing with him today.
He’s a badass who still charges in his 60s and professed his love for the Mt. Rose Chutes today.
ย Mammoth is skiing great right now.
Mammoth is open from 7:30am – 1pm right now.
Mammoth closing on Sunday for the season.
Summer is very very long, hot, and smokey…
Get it whilst you can!
