Winter 2024 has not been one to remember in Michigan this year. The weather patterns this season never allowed the Michigan ski season to really get started.  The snowfall this year was minimal and getting a solid base to build off of was very difficult for many of the resorts in the state. Mount Bohemia, which usually outlasts any of the resorts in the state due to its proximity to Lake Superior and the resulting snowfall from the lake effect, was not spared.

In an Instagram post, Mount Bohemia stated they had wrapped up a fun weekend of skiing and après activities and will be closing for the season. The ski area usually operates well into April and sometimes into May but with only 110 inches of snow to date, that is not the case this season. Unfortunately, 2024 will forever be known as the worst winter and the earliest they have closed in their 24 years of operating.

All news is not bad news though. In a follow-up post made by Mount Bohemia on its Instagram account, the resort states that the bad weather will not prevent off-season upgrades. In the post, the resort writes, “…we appreciate you being a season pass holder and we thank you for your support. Even with the horrible season We are still expecting to spend over one million dollars on capital improvements for next season.”

There is a lot to look forward to in 2025.
