Mount Hood Meadows in Oregon is set to open its 2024-25 season earlier than usual, announcing a preview weekend for November 15-17. This marks the resort’s earliest opening in 15 years when it typically aims to start operations around Thanksgiving.

The resort will initially open with its south-side lifts, including Buttercup, Easy Rider, Daisy, and the Ballroom Carpet conveyor. Operating hours are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the possibility of additional lifts and terrain opening as conditions permit. Guests are advised to exercise caution due to early season conditions, stick to groomed runs, and watch for unmarked obstacles.

Greg Pack, President and GM of Mt. Hood Meadows, expressed enthusiasm about the early start: “We’re thrilled to kick off the season ahead of schedule and look forward to what promises to be an exceptional year for skiing and snowboarding.”

The resort will reassess conditions midweek following the preview weekend to determine future operating days and available terrain.

Meteorologists predict a La Niรฑa winter for the Pacific Northwest, which typically brings cooler temperatures and increased snowfall. This bodes well for the 2024-25 season at Mount Hood Meadows. During La Niรฑa winters, the resort’s average snowfall of 430 inches per season tends to increase to around 493 inches. For reference, the 2022-23 season, the most recent La Niรฑa winter, saw an impressive 531 inches of snow at the resort.

All types of season passes will be valid for the preview weekend. Lift tickets, rentals, and lessons for the opening weekend are expected to go on sale Tuesday, November 12. The resort’s daycare facilities will also be operational, with reservation information available on the resort’s website.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the resort’s official website, SkiHood.com, for more details on season passes, lift tickets, and other offerings.

Lifts will be spinning at two other Oregon resorts this weekend: Timberline and Mount Bachelor.

Timberline was the first ski area to open in Oregon. The resort opened with a preview weekend on Saturday, November 2-3, and again this past weekend, November 9-10, with the spinning Pucci and Molly lifts. Timberline is now open daily.

Mount Bachelor will also open for a preview weekend this Friday, November 15โ€“17, for pass holders only. The resort will have Skyliner and Little Pine lifts spinning, and the Nordic Center will also be open. This marks the earliest resort opening in 26 years. The resort will open again on Friday, November 22-24, and daily operations will begin on Friday, November 29.
