An atmospheric river is approaching Northern California, with heavy snowfall forecasted at high elevations through Tuesday. The Mount Shasta Avalanche Center has issued a warning for Mount Shasta, stating that snow conditions will change and may become dangerous over the next several days.

“A winter-like weather warning for next week, Monday, Sept 25thโ€ฆan unusually strong storm system will arrive bringing near an inch of water and cold temps to the area. Snow on the mountain is certain. If planning a climb or hike on Mt. Shasta, be prepared or change plans. You have been warned!” – Mount Shasta Avalanche Center

An inch of water will translate to significant snow accumulations on Mount Shasta and surrounding areas of NorCal. Below are a few recent photos of Avalanche Gulch on the south side of Shasta and the upper portion of the Clear Creek route on the east side. This is what the mountain looks like now, but this will change soonโ€ฆ
