It was definitely a Happy New Year at Mt. Baker! ย Hopefully 2016 brings more big storms and luckily, the forecast is calling for snow next week. ย This week was full of sun and if you were willing to work for it, lots more powder. ย Even Pan Dome had some leftovers on Saturday after the long holiday. ย The groomers were fast and everything else was chalky or packed pow.

Baker still holds the deepest snowpack in North America at 104-140″.

While we enjoy the sun and wait for the next storm, lots of people are venturing out in the famous, untouched, powder-filled Baker backcountry. ย It is phenomenal and known for deep pow and awesome lines right off the top of chair 8 where you can take multiple laps all day up a short boot-pack. ย Please read the backcountry policy for all the details before entering the non-patrolled backcountry.
