video shot yesterday, November 15th, 2013.
The team at Glacier Ski Shop was back out in the Mt. Baker backcountry yesterday and this video displays what the found. They found face-shots.
Temperatures around 4,500’ were near 29F. By the time they left the hill yesterday, it has snowed 10 inches at 2,000 feet, at the base of the ski resort (3,500’) it had snowed 10” and there was a 15” base.
Mt. Baker ski resort got 20” of snow overnight bringing their snow depth to 26”.
That was sure a great storm last night! We received 20 inches of new snow in the upper base area, so our base at Heather Meadows is now up to 26 inches. We received about 10-14 inches in the lower base area. Forecasts are calling for 4-5 more inches through Monday then we’re looking at a possible slight warmup on Monday night – Tuesday. Once we get through that, then we’ll see how the forecast is looking and if we get more snow perhaps we could see the possibility of opening towards next weekend. Keep dancing that snow dance, and hopefully we’ll see you on the mountain soon! – Mt. Baker ski area
