The Utah Avalanche Center ranked avalanche danger in Utah at “High” above, near, and below tree line yesterday. ย It’s down from “Extreme” from two days ago. ย A girl was killed in an avalanche near Salt Lake City on Saturday.

THIS AVALANCHE WARNING IS FOR ALL MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL UTAH. THE LARGEST SNOWSTORM OF THE WINTER HAS OVERLOADED A VERY WEAK PRE-EXISTING SNOWPACK, WHICH HAS CAUSED WIDESPREAD, LARGE AVALANCHES AND TWO FATALITIES OVER THE WEEKEND. A HIGH DANGER CONTINUES FOR ALL ASPECTS AND ELEVATIONS. THIS WARNING DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS OR HIGHWAYS WHERE AVALANCHE CONTROL IS NORMALLY DONE.
