NOAA is calling for the possibility of an Atmospheric River Storm hitting California this Thursday-Friday.

NOAA has “moderate” confidence that this Atmospheric River Storm will drop “significant precipitation” on California north of highway 50.  

NOAA is currently forecasting high snow levels of around 8,000′.  

It is evident now that a moderate Atmospheric
River will impact the Western U.S. late this week. The current
consensus shows that the moisture plume will be directed towards
Northern California and the Sierra.

Atmospheric River Thursday – Friday…

Confidence is moderate that significant precipitation will fall, especially in the Sierra and near and north of highway 50. As far as snow levels, confidence is low (especially in western NV) as a warm front will wash over the region Thursday, affecting the timing of snow turning to rain.
